Nigerian Super Eagles have re-claimed their pride as the Reigning Champions of African football by a 2-1 victory over Ethiopia in spite of the high altitude that was unfavorable to play good football.
Behailu Assefa opened score for the Ethiopians before Emmanuel Emenike levelled
the game and then scored the winner from the spot at exactly 90th minute.
The real first chance fell to Oduamadi in the 21st minute when he side footed wide a delicious cross by Emmanuel Emenike from the right wing. The Ethiopians dominated the first half with good mid-field passes and lovely ball skills but failed to utilize their chances any time they come close. The second half saw Nigerian coach Stephen Keshi bringing in Nosa Igiebor and Brown Ideye for Oduamadi and Moses which sort of changed the proceedings of the game.
The African champions take the advantage into the return leg in Calabar on
November 16.
