What’s the bottom line of re-hiring Keshi?

There is a saying that ‘’the opera ain’t over till the fat lady sings’’. I am afraid that this Opera looks a bit difficult for the fat lady to even comprehend the lines of the song lyrics. Very soon this fat lady will sing and we will all dance to the same old song. What surprises me the most is how we believe we can achieve different results doing the same thing. Don’t get it twisted, I have no problem with Keshi. He is a perfect gentleman and has done great with his career as a coach. He brought back a Nations cup we won last in 1994, Qualified us to the Fifa confederation/World cup respectively. That was massive and I must commend him for that. Nevertheless, we lost all of that in a space of one year because managing African Nations Cup success was a big problem for Keshi. His first Mistake: Keshi dropped his key player’s i.e Sunday Mba, Fegor Ogude, Nosa Igiebor, Ikechukwu Uche & Obiora Nwankwo.  These key men were instrumental to the cup victory he achieved in South Africa especially Sunday Mba scoring the most important goals that handed us the cup. How his relationship with these players soured in a space of some months still is a myth to many Nigerians, His excuses about them were just too many and lame. What forms my basis of a good coach is one who can manage and build a good

lasting  relationship with his players. A good coach should be able to read the hand writing on the wall and must know when to draw the curtain.  The reverse was the case and his experiments was unending; Keshi kept inviting different manner of unfit players and his experimentation continued. There was no body to challenge him, he wouldn’t listen to good critics  and Nigeria football kept declining in FIFA ranking. I have noticed that Nigerians are very passionate when it comes to Football; but I must say that we seem to forget events in a hurry and tend not to care about decisions that affects our daily lives .Whether we like it or not, Football is the only tool that unites us as one people in Nigeria. NFF must be up and doing in decision making. They must not allow themselves to be used by politicians especially when it comes to the issue of hiring a coach for the Eagles. I believe Nigeria should come first in every decision. We must place Nigeria above self. NFF President Amaju Pinnick had said before becoming the NFF President, and before even entering the fray, Pinnick was reported to have said in an interview that he wouldn’t have Keshi as the Super Eagles coach. So there is no gainsaying fact that the relationship between the two was soured even before it began. He stated categorically that he would hire a foreign coach to replace Keshi. So why are we going back to re-hire Keshi? He sold out to politics and sentiments,Isn't it ? Same Keshi that told us he had at least six offers from different countries is still jobless up till now and may likely accept with both hands what NFF would offer that may not necessarily augur well with him. Pride indeed goes before a fall. It’s only in Nigeria that you will see a coach get fired and an order from above will come and the same person that got fired will be re-instated with 48 hours , Nigeria I hail thee. Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Africa have all moved on with the issue of finding a new tactician . It is clearer now that NFF must re-hire Keshi for the fear of the un-known. But how long will our football continue on this same old song?
